Sitting with Selves

Sitting with Selves is a visual narrative exploring the complex relationship with afro hair. Through a series of evocative photographs taken while detangling hair, the journey questions the complexities that arise. Focusing on moments of introspection, vulnerability, and resilience, it navigates the intricate emotions and experiences entwined with this process.

Sitting with the gradual change in my hair's texture and appearance, capturing one facet among the many rituals and expressions of Black hair culture, I reflect on the relationship individuals build with their hair. From the desire to break free from societal norms to embracing the multiplicity inherent within Black hair, I explore those feelings and my personal connection to my hair.
